We Fight Any Claim Staff on Red Nose Day 2013

Over the past few years, our staff have dedicated their time to raising money for local and national causes.

To date our staff have dug deep and raised funds for more than 20 different charities including Movember, Ethan’s Wish 2 Walk, Comic Relief and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust amongst many, many others.

Staff are offered the opportunity to enjoy dress down Fridays by contributing £1 to the charity of the month, and as a company we are always open to suggestions from our employees as to which charities they believe we should fundraise for.

But the good work doesn’t stop there, the generosity and kind nature of our workforce extends into their personal lives and dozens of employees have taken up charitable challenges during their spare time.

Outside of work staff have completed half marathons, 10k runs, sponsored walks and even a Grand Canyon Trek! We’re proud to say that the team here has raised more than £21,000 for charity which includes a substantial £8,468 donation by WFAC’s Joy Chorlton to Marie Curie cancer care, as part of her Grand Canyon trek.

At the office we also like to play our part in hosting charitable events. In March 2012 we volunteered our call centre operations to Sport Relief, with our agents collecting £35,892 worth of donations over the phone in just one night. We’ve also embraced Comic Relief within the call centre with cake sales, raffles and the ever popular fancy-dress down Fridays!

As the Festive season approaches we will be turning our attention to The Torfaen Santa Appeal run by Torfaen Social Services. For many young people and children facing poverty, their Christmas will not involve any gifts from loved ones. The appeal aims to make Christmas a special time for those children who might otherwise miss out by providing presents donated by the public. Throughout December we will be supporting the appeal by dedicating dress down donations to the cause.

Looking ahead to our future fundraising, in 2014 Managing Director, Simon Chorlton and Floor Manager James Llewellyn will take on the challenge of a lifetime as they travel to Peru to tackle the country’s extreme terrains by raft, bike and foot.

The pair will be fundraising for Marie Curie Cancer care, the charity in charge of organising the trip which is taking place in September next year. Marie Curie offer care and support to terminally ill patients in their own home and within nine Marie Curie hospices across the UK. We look forward to supporting Simon, James and most of all, Marie Curie once again in the New Year.
